Haniel starts dialogue with young academic talent as early as possible – best of all during studies. Because, the sooner contact is made, the better mutual expectations can be accommodated. Therefore, the Holding Company and Corporate Divisions like to start talented students on internships. Here, you experience everything needed in practice – and first-hand from people who can talk and work with you constructively. As a “Fair Company”, we offer you a real opportunity to launch your career.
Comprehensive support
As an intern at Haniel, you don’t just look over the shoulders of our employees, but take an active part in projects. You gain experience away from the office as well. We offer you the chance to swap this with other interns, students and trainees – at weekly get-togethers, for example. You will also learn about the holding business and the Corporate Divisions on site by means of excursions and other activities. We will keep in touch with you after your internship and send you the regular Group employee newsletter.
Teresa Kohnen, intern with Corporate Human Resources “I felt accepted as a valued member of the team and was given the chance to lead smaller projects myself. For me, that made all the difference compared to other internships. I will doubtless reap the benefits of my time here at Haniel for a long time and will look back on it fondly. The support during the internship was excellent – partly because I had the opportunity to compare notes with interns and trainees from other departments on our experiences at Haniel and elsewhere”.
Christina Wentges, intern with Corporate Communications “The internship was a valuable experience for me. I was able to make practical use of theoretical knowledge from university in independent work. My contact partners always took the time to answer my questions, which enabled me to learn a great deal. I was extremely pleased with the internship support at Haniel. With all the different offers, I was able not only to socialise with interns in other departments, but to get to know the Group as a whole across the Corporate Communications department. In the internships I have done previously, I have never encountered such a versatile range of offers for interns. I will especially remember the regular get-togethers – a great opportunity to get to know each other better and compare experiences. The tour of the Haniel Museum was also very interesting for me. This gave me a fascinating insight into the rich history of the company."
Student Development Programme
Haniel boost prospective economists from their third semester until they graduate with the Student Development Programme (SDP). Every year, approximately 15 applicants qualify. The SDP participants expand their theoretical knowledge with practical workshops and seminars in the Corporate Divisions or the Haniel Academy. Additionally, a personal mentor from the Group is there to advise them. The development programme also includes various possibilities to complete internships at home and abroad or to study in China.
Moritz Schneidmüller, JOIN! trainee: "My first impression of Haniel has been confirmed during the two years that I've been taking part in the SDP programme. I've had every opportunity to explore the company. During the 'SDP on tour workshops', I gained a direct insight into the operating business of several Corporate Divisions. I attended skills seminars and training modules in the Haniel Academy. These enabled me to improve my rhetorical skills, presentation techniques and intercultural competency – all of which are becoming increasingly important in professional life but tend to be neglected, unfortunately, by degree courses. The absolute high point, however, was the three-week summer school at Tongji University in Shanghai."
